Professor Elroy Dimson is one of world's most highly regarded experts in the field of academic finance.
Professor Dimson chairs the Centre for Endowment Asset Management at Cambridge Judge Business School, and is Emeritus Professor of Finance at London Business School. He also chairs the Policy Board and the Academic Advisory Board of FTSE Russell and is an Advisory Council member for Financial Analysts Journal.
His book,
Triumph of the Optimists, which he co-wrote with Paul Marsh and Mike Staunton, is widely viewed as
the most authoritative book on the lessons to learn from financial market history.
We asked Professor Dimson to summarise what he's learned from his life's work about how to invest, and this short video is the result. In a nutshell, he says, there are three pillars of successful investing: diversification, cost control and simplicity. We couldn't have put it better ourselves.
